David and Jenny Burd are among the founders of the Third Street South Farmer’s Market, loyal and popular vendors since the market’s inception some 22 years ago. David at times refers to himself as the “Mango Man,” known as he is for carrying myriad varietals of mangos in season, and knowing them all by name. In a 2012 profile by Gulfshore Life Magazine, he earned the moniker, the “mango maven.” Year-round, from season to season, count on David and Jenny to purvey a wide variety of local and tropical produce, from the recognizable to the exotic. David is always a favorite among market-goers for his gregarious nature and encyclopedic knowledge of the fruit and other products they sell. Jenny is more demure but welcomes each shopper with a smile. The Third Street South Farmer’s Market is held each Saturday from 7:30-11:30am year-round. Be sure to stop by and say hello to the Burds, as well as the dozens of vendors who line Third Street weekly with artisanal and local goods and foods.
