There was much tail wagging and happy carrying on at the Third Street South Farmer’s Market on September 3 as the Humane Society of Naples presented a mobile adoption event as a part of their ongoing Paws Around Town campaign. Our Humane Society is Southwest Florida’s premier no-kill shelter and adoption center, and additionally provides full-service veterinary care that is open to the public.

Adorably adoptable dogs and cats of varying size, breed, and age ventured to Third Street to woo prospective companions. All morning long, dedicated volunteers strolled the Market with pups sporting vests emblazoned with the hopeful plea, “Adopt me.” The generally more composed feline representatives remained happily ensconced in the air conditioning, content to watch and wait.

Also in attendance was the usual array of predominantly canine friends who regularly visit our Farmer’s Market with their two-legged custodians, making for a veritable pet parade on Third Street. Missed it? Not to worry, the Humane Society and these noble pets-in-waiting will be back on Third Street as a part of Pets on Third, if not before.
