Skim Jam
The Old Naples Surf Shop will be hosting their 9th Annual 13th Avenue South Skim Jam, this October. This skim board contest will take place on Saturday, October 9th on the beach at 13th Avenue South in Naples, Florida. Proceeds of the event will benefit Audubon Western Everglades Shorebird Steward Program.
Old Naples Surf Shop owner, Sharda Spahr, is looking forward to hosting the contest once again after last year’s virtual Board at Home Series contest. “We had a great turnout at the last ‘in person’ competition with athletes of all ages demonstrating their skimming skills and ability. It was a lot of fun for both competitors and spectators, all the while having a great time at the beach. We had some very talented competitors from around the state and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back and expect an even greater local and regional turnout this year.”
The contest is slated to begin at 9am, with check in from 8am at the beach entrance on 13th Avenue South. Contestants must register in advance at Old Naples Surf Shop, located at 1311 Third Street South, or online at www.oldnaplessurfshop.com. Entry fee is $40. All contestants will receive a swag bag, custom contest t-shirt and lunch. There will be giveaways and games throughout the day, it’s a fun day for the whole family!
The format of the competition will be the same as previous years, with four age divisions for boys and two age divisions for girls. The top three contestants from each division will receive trophies and prizes from our sponsors. “We are really excited to have our sponsors back again this year, including Janney Advisors, Surf Naples, Saltwater Syndicate, Sun Bum, Exile Skimboards, Zap Skimboards, Freak Traction, Flexdex, Volcom, Smith, Katin, RVCA, Stance, Pura Vida, Smith, Quiksilver, Roxy, O’Neill, Hemlock, FCS, Reef, Corkcicle, Arcade, Rusty, Rainbow Sandals, Avid, Salty Crew, Globe, Catch Surf, and Vissla. The contest will also have a Pro Division, entry fee of $65.
